Long flights can be boring, to say the least. After all, you have to sit there for hours at a time with nothing to do other than watch time pass you by. If you want to try and entertain yourself, or if you want to try and stop the hours from dragging while you wait for your arrival, then there are a few things that you can do.
Electronic Games
Games are a brilliant way for you to pass the time. You can download games on your laptop or you can even bring a portable gaming console. Either way it helps to make sure that your console has enough charge to last you at least some of the way. If your console has no battery when you board then you’ll have to spend an hour or two charging it up, and this can make the trip a bit less enjoyable. When playing your console, turn the brightness down to conserve maximum battery and also bring some headphones too. That way you can enjoy all of the sound effects without having to worry about other people. If you need some ideas of some games to play, then driving games are always a great choice.
Buy a Book
Sometimes a good graphic novel, book or even magazine can pass a few hours on the flight. If
you have a kindle then this is fantastic, but make sure that you bring enough downloads with you to keep you entertained during the flight. You might also want to look into downloading a few different themes of book as well, just in case you’re not in the mood for your usual go-to murder mystery novel.
Draw
If you don’t want to sit there and stare at a screen then this is completely understandable, but that doesn’t mean that you will be left with nothing to do. Instead, choose to bring a sketch pad and draw for a while. If you just bring pencils then you don’t have to worry about bringing a huge range of colours, and it’s a really easy way to pass some time. The best thing about drawing is that you can draw just about anything you want, and it is a fantastic way for you to flex your creativity.
Listen to your iPod
If you have an electric music player, then this can easily keep you entertained on the flight. Again, just make sure that it has enough charge before you go, or you may end up spending the first half an hour of the flight bored. When downloading songs for your music device, ensure that you download a full range. You never know what mood you’re going to be in when you board and for that reason, it’s always nice to have a huge range of tracks to listen to. Some devices will even let you download basic games onto them as well, and this is great if you just get bored of listening to music all the time.
Track your Flight
It helps to know when your flight is taking off and when you are due to land. When you have this information, it is then possible for you to track your flight online, if your plane offers WiFi. You can see which oceans and countries you are passing over, and you can also watch other flights too. This can be a fun way to pass the time, especially if you have a keen interest in aviation and you would be surprised at how easy it is for you to really make the most out of your flight this way.
Write
If you are a songwriter or even a novice poet, then this is quite possibly the best time for you to practice your skills. Try and write a song, or jot down some ideas. You would be surprised at how many musicians write their songs while on the road and you are no different.
Talk
Talking is another way for you to pass the time. You can chat with the person who is right next to you for hours on end if you find something in common and this is a fantastic way for you to pass the time. If you want to kickstart the conversation, then find out where they are going and why. Before you know it, you will be able to hit it off and talk about all kinds of things.
Sleep
If travelling makes you weary, then there is nothing wrong with sleeping. This can be a great way for you to unwind and it prepares you for the journey ahead.
