The ingredient can make your recipe – and some do come at a premium price. Nielsen-Massey is known for their premium ingredients and vanillas. They’re trusted by chefs and home cooks because of their quality ingredients. Except for homemade, Nielsen-Massey is one of the only brands of vanilla I trust, so I was excited when they decided to send me some of their Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar to try out.
There are a lot of things you can do with vanilla sugar, but when you search online all you seem to find are recipes for sugar cookies. To test out the product I wanted to try something a little different.
One thing I loved immediately about the Vanilla Sugar when it showed up, how it’s packaged. Not only is it in a glass container, so the flavors will stay fresh. But it is also closed with a cork. Unlike wine, the cork is easy to remove and place back in. When you first open bottle you will find the sugar is compacted tightly inside. I just used my finger to loosen it up a little.
There aren’t any vanilla beans in the jar, instead it is filled to the brim with coarsely ground sugar. It can be used as a topping or even in recipes. But even a small amount goes the longest way, the flavor is strong and you can smell the vanilla as soon as you open the bottle.
So what did I make with my vanilla sugar? Some delicious
gluten free vanilla cinnamon sugar bread. It’s a quick and easy recipe, and the extra hint of vanilla turned a sweet bread into a true dessert! Just think how delicious this will be on Christmas morning, it’s a great way to make a yummy treat for you or your family.
