When you think of Orlando, you often think of taking family trips and taking the kids to Walt Disney World. But it is just as easily a destination for adults, who often leave the kids back at home. Last month, I took a trip to Orlando with a couple of friends and we enjoyed a girls trip to explore the city, the parks and the surrounding area – all in the name of “research” for future trips with the families. Now, our girls trip may have included a lot of sun, a few mixed drinks and a lot of walking but we had a great time exploring a new city and hanging out with friends.
While we were in Orlando, the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs provided us a room for our stay. The hotel is completely family friendly and offers everything from character breakfasts, a gift shop and even their own splash pad to keep kids occupied. But what it offers the adult guests is more than other resorts we stayed at later on our trip. The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs is a great place for families, or just a relaxing get away.
Conveniently located, the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs is actually the closest hotel to the Disney Springs shopping area (formerly Downtown Disney). They do offer a shuttle service to take you to Disney Springs but it is a quick 5 minute walk to dinner, entertainment and of course shopping. The hotel also offers shuttles to all of the Disney parks every 30 minutes throughout the day at no additional charge and can help you plan your trip to Walt Disney World if you need it.
Inside the lobby alone, the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs offers a 24 hour snack store that offers everything from ice cream, fruit and even wine to end your day. With ample seating areas you can unwind easily in the lobby before heading up to your room after a busy day exploring the area.
Our room was one of the Double Queen rooms with a Disney Park View. Not only could we see Disney Springs completely and often caught the Rain Forest Cafe volcano lighting up at night. While sitting in bed at night and nursing our sore feet we could even see the fireworks happening all over Walt Disney World. They are a bit of a distance from the room so you would see them up close, but it is still nice watching the displays from the comfort of bed. Just watch the fireworks schedule and you can easily catch all of the show from your room.
The room was clean, modern and comfortable. With smart design not only did the room offer two queen sized beds, a desk and sitting area, a larger mini-fridge, a coffee machine and even a hidden closet with hooks and shoe cubbies. After a day caught in the rain, we found the hooks were perfect for hanging up everything to let them dry out before our next day running around.
We found that the Wyndham was a great home base and the location was perfect for our trip and relaxing after we came back exhausted every day. And in the morning, we had the large buffet on the mezzanine level we could fuel up with every morning. Besides the beloved Mickey Waffles, you can get custom omelets, eggs, bacon, and all of your favorite breakfast fares for one low price. There was a large area of beautiful pastries that looked so delicious, however being gluten free they were off limits. Our waitress was kind enough to bring me a gluten free muffin and brownie. I don’t think we had meals this big the rest of our time in the area, and we could get more if we wanted it.
The Wyndham Lake Buena vista Disney Springs was a beautiful hotel to stay at, with a great location and a fantastic staff. When we bring our families back to share what we learned on our “research” trip we definitely will be staying there again.
