  1. Used to be a guest vendor years back selling craft soda. As a friendly gesture, I served all Ren Faire staff free cups of soda, much to their delight. Security was especially happy, and spread the word, and many a happy guards thirst were quenched. In short order, the queen and her Royal court were at my booth, delightedly sampling sundry flavors of soda. Later in the day, I ran out of seltzer water, and had no staff handy to make a run when, magically, one of the guards asked if I needed anything, and gave him the scoop. A few minutes later, he returns with 10 gallons of water to charge up in the carbonation machine. Thrilled, I ask how much I owe him, to which he replied “Nothing, laddie.” Suffice to say, he and his staff drank more soda in one day than in a whole year. 😉 One of the many reasons I love the Faire.

  2. My favorite themed weekend is a toss-up as they are all amazing for their different contributions or activities for patrons. If I had to narrow it down I would say the Highland Fling because of the drum and pipe bands or the harvest huzzah because of the all the amazing foods. One of my favorite MiRF stories is when the Rogue Blades and Ric Roc teamed up to do a performance together. I am not sure it was totally planned, but it was one of the funniest moments I have had in my many years of attending the festival. The Rogue Blades were in the middle of their show when Squire Paul (Huzzah) was to come out in a dress to test a volunteer. Instead of Paul it was Ric Roc and the show got crazier from there. The audience who knew the lines from the show became involved and it was a huge laugh-fest. I would love to win tickets so I can take my family again this year and see our festival friends.
