This summer, a movie that brings the battle of a mother finding her place comes to the theater. It seems like an almost repeat of the same story over and over again. So when we went to see an early screen of Where’d You Go Bernadette – we weren’t expecting anything more then that. But instead, we were greeted with a movie that brings wit, charm and a different story to the screen.
Bernadette Fox is a mother who doesn’t fit in with the other mom’s at the school. A bit eccentric and married to a tech mogul, she runs her life how she wants and she doesn’t care what her actions do to other people. But along the way, her husband and friends start to get worried about the changes they see in Bernadette and how she treats others around here. A former architect turned recluse, the art world and those near here are starting to ask what happened to the woman they knew. But Bernadette doesn’t see a problem in the way she’s living, or the need to change.
After a few things happen that Bernadette doesn’t have control of, she’s faced with a choice to deal with them or to start to find herself again. The movie focuses on what changed in her life and what she has to do to make herself happy and get back to being the Bernadette she wants to be again.
If you’re looking for a light summer movie, Where’d You Go, Bernadette is a movie that will be one for you. It avoids several of the movie tropes you can expect in this type of movie, all the while tackling some of the issues that comes with the changes in your roles in life and how different people in your life deal with them.
Where’d you go Bernadette is now in theaters. It’s a fun movie that doesn’t require a lot of thinking, but will give you laughs through the whole show.
