No one wants to be in debt. We’ve never met someone who was happy to create more bills for themselves and add to a pile of bills they have to pay each month. It’s rare that we get out on our own as adults without a debt or two, but have you ever considered what you could if you didn’t have debts looming over you? What could you do with your life if you didn’t have to scrape by each month? We sure have! We have dreams of what we could be doing if we had unlimited money.
Debt can feel overwhelming and it may become a problem when you’re trying to get a footing on the situation. So how do you deal with stress that is brought on by debt? I know my gut response is push the bills away and get to them eventually. But all that does is push them further out of my reach and the bills will get larger and the debt will as well. Most companies offer consolidation options or programs to help reduce your payments. That is the first step that anyone with debts should take – working with the company to make your payments more reasonable and within your budgets. Debt can seem overwhelming, but with the right tools you can eliminate it completely and get your finances back on track.
So let’s dare to dream and think about what we would do if we didn’t have those debts!
What Would You Rather Be Doing?
So let’s dare to dream – what would you do if you didn’t have debts? If you had unlimited funds and could get anything you wanted? Would you get a new car or a new house? Go on vacation more or just hang out at the beach every day?
For us, without debts looming over us and no other responsibilities we would be be traveling everywhere we could. We would see the parts of the world that seem like a dream and dip our toes in the water at the farthest ocean, climb the highest mountains and take videos of all of our adventures as we go.
Here’s What You Could Be Doing Instead
Look at that stack of bills next to you and the debts you have racked up. They might be from that car you needed, your education or even the mortgage, but they all add up to putting limits on your life as well. Yes, there is a benefit to every debt you get into, at least in the short term but they can limit you in the long run and make it so you can’t do things you want to.
So if you had no debts – what would you do? Or what could you do? Here are some options!
- Relax, and kick back in a hammock instead of rushing to get another job
- Reclaim your time, don’t worry as much about those bills – you have more than enough to cover them
- Head down to the beach and just listen to the crashing waves
- Book that dream vacation, visit the places you’ve always dreamed of
- Get your dream car! Have you always wanted that luxury car?
- Upgrade your house, have you wanted to live in a certain area?
- Maybe even get your dream house built so you have everything you want in one place
- Go back to school, or prepay everything for your children’s education
- Fund your own invention or start your own business
- Become an angel investor and help small businesses take off
- Donate to charities that need your help
