smurfs the lost village review

Our favorite little blue friends, the Smurfs return to the big screen and are here to answer the ultimate question: What is a Smurfette? The Smurfs: Lost Village helps us answer that question.

Smurfette, our favorite and up until now only female smurf, is on a mission to find out what a Smurfette really is. Every smurf is named for that one special thing that makes them unique. There is Hefty, Brainy, Grumpy, Nosey, and even Table-Eating (don’t ask) smurf! Their names say it all, who they are and what they do within the village. But what is a Smurfette? The name is unique but not defining of her character. Throughout the movie we see Smurfette try new things and strive to find her calling but not one thing sticks.

In her attempt to find her purpose, Smurfette leads a brave group of smurfs into the forbidden forest to save a new colony of smurfs from the evil wizard Gargamel. The forbidden forest leads to an adventure that no one xpects, filled with new creatures and new sights, and above all new smurfs! The most exciting part of the movie is the new colony of smurfs are all female!! Just like our beloved smurfs they have a role in the village but their names are very different and unique, just like them. Together both groups come together and Smurfette steps up above everyone to defeat the evil Gargamel.

In the end, Smurfette learns that there no one thing that makes her unique, everything about her makes her unique and different from the other smurfs, hence the name Smurfette, a very multifaceted name.

Smurfs: Lost Village takes on a new adventure that will leave the family entertained and enthralled. There are very exciting parts and a few maybe scary parts for young viewers but it is overall a good family movie. The movie was loved by entire family and my daughter was cheering for Smurfette in the end for being such a heroine. I love the message that you are special as you and everyone is unique in their own way, and we each serve a purpose in society, a strong message to youth of today. In the end, always be yourself!
