In LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE, based on the best-selling novel, ‘Ani FaNelli’ (Mila Kunis), a sharp-tongued New Yorker appears to have it all: a sought-after position at a glossy magazine, a killer wardrobe, and a dream Nantucket wedding on the horizon. But when the director of a crime documentary invites her to tell her side of the shocking incident that took place when she was a teenager at the prestigious Brentley School, Ani is forced to confront a dark truth that threatens to unravel her meticulously crafted life. Nicole Huff stars as ‘Oliva Kaplan’, the mean girl of Brentley School and an antagonist of ‘Ani’s’ when she was a student on campus, alienating her from others and causing her great pain. GRIMCUTTY TO TERRIFY TEENS ON OCTOBER 10 FOR HULUWEEN
20th Digital Studio and Hulu premiered the trailer for “Grimcutty,” a horror feature film debuting October 10 as part of the streamer’s annual Huluween celebration. The teen tech horror/thriller is the first in a slate of nine feature-length films developed and expanded from 20th Digital’s short film collection “Bite Size Halloween.” “Grimcutty” will have its World Premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on October 6.
Directed and written by John William Ross (“The Birch”), “Grimcutty” follows a suburban teen girl (newcomer Sara Wolfkind) and her little brother (Callan Farris, “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables”) who must stop a terrifying internet meme brought to life by the hysteria of their parents, played by Usman Ally (“VEEP,” “A Series of Unfortunate Events”) and Shannyn Sossamon (“Wayward Pines,” “Sleepy Hollow”). Alona Tal (“SEAL Team”) also stars, as a mother whose son (Kayden Koshalev, “Search Party,” “The Tragedy of Macbeth”) is affected by the memetic monster.
Ross previously created the short horror film “Gregory,” which premiered on Hulu in 2020 in the first season of 20th Digital’s “Bite Size Halloween.” “Grimcutty” is a successor both in the aesthetic of the two titular creatures and in themes of mass hysteria, technology, and social dynamics.
“Grimcutty” was developed by 20th Digital Studio with David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle serving as executive producers. Production services were carried out by producers Dawn Fanning Moore and David Moore through their production company Capture.
Season three of “Bite Size Halloween” is available on Hulu on October 1, 2022 with 20 new horror and sci-fi shorts from emerging filmmakers. Another feature, “Matriarch,” from UK writer/director Ben Steiner, will premiere on October 21. Hulu previously announced that the nine-film slate with 20th Digital will include the upcoming “Clock” from Alexis Jacknow, and “Appendage” from Anna Zlokovic, among others.
TILL – First Look – In Select Theaters October 14th Everywhere October 28th
Till is a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till Mobley’s relentless pursuit of justice for her 14 year old son, Emmett Till, who, in 1955, was lynched while visiting his cousins in Mississippi. In Mamie’s poignant journey of grief turned to action, we see the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world.
Shantaram – New 12-episode Apple Original series premieres globally October 14 on Apple TV+
Based on the internationally best-selling novel by Gregory David Roberts, “Shantaram” will make its global debut with the first three episodes of its 12-episode first season on Friday, October 14, 2022, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through December 16, 2022, on Apple TV+.
“Shantaram” follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Hunnam) looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.
In addition to Hunnam, the series also stars Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph, and Shiv Palekar.
The series is co-created, written and executive produced by Steve Lightfoot, who also serves as showrunner. Bharat Nalluri directs and executive produces. MATRIARCH WILL HAVE WORLD PREMIERE AT 2022 SCREAMFEST HORROR FILM FESTIVAL – Premiering on Hulu October 21
Kate Dickie, known for her memorable mothering performances in ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Witch,’ stars as the titular “Matriarch” in a rural British body horror family drama, the second in a slate of nine feature-length films developed and expanded from 20th Digital Studio’s short film collection “Bite Size Halloween.” The Hulu Original film will hold its world premiere screening at the 2022 Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Hollywood, Calif., on October 11 – opening night – before premiering on the streamer for Huluween on October 21. UK filmmaker Ben Steiner (“Monsterland 2”) wrote and directed the film, led by Jemima Rooper (“The Girlfriend Experience,” “Flowers in the Attic: The Origin”). At a breaking point after a near-fatal overdose, a woman (Rooper) returns to her childhood home to confront her mother (Dickie) and her personal demons, but instead discovers a real one. “Matriarch” was shot in Bristol, England and features supporting cast members Sarah Paul (“EastEnders”), Franc Ashman (“I May Destroy You”), and Keith David Bartlett.
Steiner’s short film “Urn” was a part of the 2018 “Huluween Film Fest,” in which all shorts were produced by 20th (then Fox) Digital Studio. A spiritual successor to “Urn,” “Matriarch” also deals with a toxic mother-daughter relationship and both films incorporate Steiner’s visual style.
“Matriarch” was developed by 20th Digital Studio with David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle serving as executive producers. Production services were carried out by Sharp House producers Ian Sharp and Eoin O-Faolain, and co-producer Alexa Waugh.

CORSAGE – Trailer Reveal – In Theaters December 23, 2022
Marie Kreutzer’s critically acclaimed period drama CORSAGE has been selected as Austria’s Official Oscar® Entry for Best International Feature Film. The film stars Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread, Old, Bergman Island) in a bold, mischievous, award-winning turn as the real-life Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Krieps won the Best Performance Prize in the Un Certain Regard section of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere. IFC Films will release CORSAGE in theaters in the U.S. on December 23, 2022.
Written and directed by Kreutzer, CORSAGE follows Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Krieps), one of the most magnetic royals of the 19th century, who was idolized for her beauty and renowned for inspiring fashion trends. But in 1877, ‘Sisi’ celebrates her 40th birthday and must fight to maintain her public image by lacing her corset ever tighter. While Elisabeth’s role has been reduced against her wishes to purely performative, her hunger for knowledge and zest for life makes her more and more restless in Vienna. She travels to England and Bavaria, visiting former lovers and old friends, seeking the excitement and purpose of her youth. With a future of strictly ceremonial duties laid out in front of her, Elisabeth rebels against the hyperbolized image of herself and comes up with a plan to protect her legacy.
