Theaters are busy with summer movies already and there are a lot of other great ones coming out this weekend and later this month. It’s been a bit of a slower week for new movie announcements but that doesn’t mean there’s not great series and other things to look forward to. JEANNETTE | Premieres on VOD June 17th

ONE NIGHT IN IDAHO: THE COLLEGE MURDERS | Streaming on Prime Video July 11th

On November 13th, 2022 – in the still of the night – four University of Idaho students are brutally stabbed to death in an off-campus house in the quiet college town of Moscow, Idaho. Within the devastated families and the community at large, questions and fear abound. What happened? Who did this, and could the killer be among us? And why these four young adults? The twists and turns of what happens next – an explosion of social media sleuthing, a cross-country manhunt, a dramatic arrest, and a looming trial – have made this crime one of the most high-profile stories of the last decade, capturing the country’s attention, imagination, and paranoia like almost no other case before it.

One Night in Idaho: The College Murders, a four-part docuseries, premieres July 11 on Prime Video.

Told in captivating, tense, and emotionally wrenching detail by only those involved in and affected by the crime, the series intimately explores this American tragedy and its continued impact and fallout.

The series centers on the families and friends of the victims, featuring exclusive interviews with Stacey and Jim Chapin (parents of Ethan Chapin), and Karen and Scott Laramie (parents of Madison Mogan). Directed by Liz Garbus (Lost Girls, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark) and Matthew Galkin (Murder in the Bayou), the series is executive produced by Garbus, Galkin, Katie A. FOUNDATION | Season 3 Premieres on Apple TV+ July 11th

Apple TV+ unveiled the thrilling trailer for the third season of “Foundation,” the epic, hit saga from storyteller David S. Goyer. Based on Isaac Asimov’s award-winning stories and led by Emmy-nominated actors Jared Harris and Lee Pace and star Lou Llobell, the 10-episode season will debut globally with one episode on Friday, July 11 on Apple TV+, followed by new episodes weekly, every Friday through September 12. The Apple Original drama is produced for Apple TV+ by Skydance Television.

“Foundation” has captivated audiences with its intricate world-building, stunning visuals, bold storytelling, and compelling performances. Season three continues the epic chronicle of a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.

Set 152 years after the events of season two, The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. THE INSTITUTE | Premieres on MGM+ July 13th

From executive producers Stephen King and Jack Bender (FROM), “The Institute” follows the story of teen genius Luke Ellis (Freeman), who is kidnapped and awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did and who are all possessed of unusual abilities. In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as his story and Luke’s are destined to collide.

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER | New Poster – In Theaters July 18th

When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

In the action-comedy The Pickup, a routine cash pickup takes a wild turn when two mismatched armored truck drivers, Russell (Eddie Murphy) and Travis (Pete Davidson), are ambushed by ruthless criminals led by a savvy mastermind, Zoe (Keke Palmer), with plans that go way beyond the cash cargo. THE LOST BUS | Coming to Apple TV+ Fall 2025

Apple Original Films unveiled the teaser trailer for “The Lost Bus,” an emotional, action-packed rescue drama directed by Academy Award-nominee Paul Greengrass and inspired by real events. Coming fall 2025 to select theaters and on Apple TV+, “The Lost Bus” is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires, as a wayward school bus driver (Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award-winner America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno. “’The Lost Bus’ is the story of quiet heroism — of people coming together in the face of the unthinkable. I’m honored to have been entrusted with this story,” says director Paul Greengrass.

“The Lost Bus” is written by Greengrass and Brad Inglesby and based on “’Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire,” by Lizzie Johnson. The film is produced by Ingelsby, Gregory Goodman, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, Jamie Lee Curtis for Comet Pictures, and executive produced by author Johnson. After hearing Johnson on NPR, Curtis read the book and brought the project to Blumhouse, where she has a first look deal.

In addition to McConaughey and Ferrera, the cast includes Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson and Spencer Watson.
