ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY “BEYOND INFINITY: BUZZ AND THE JOURNEY TO LIGHTYEAR” NOW STREAMING ON DISNEY+
To celebrate the one week countdown to the theatrical release of Disney and Pixar’s “Lightyear,” Disney+ invites fans to explore the history of Buzz Lightyear and get a sneak peek at the making of the all-new film. Pixar Animation Studios’ “Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear” explores the evolution of an icon, tracing Buzz Lightyear’s route from toy to the hero featured in the new film. Check out the trailer and key art celebrating today’s launch of the documentary on Disney+.
Featuring filmmakers, storytellers, artists and members of the “Lightyear” voice cast, “Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear” details how Buzz’s original action-figure design was realized, and how that look was translated years later into a human hero. Delving into the cultural impact of the galaxy’s most famous Space Ranger and his significance to Pixar filmmakers, this doc grapples with what actually is beyond infinity. It is directed by Tony Kaplan and produced by Sureena Mann.
Opening in theaters in one week (June 17), “Lightyear”—the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear (voice of Chris Evans), the hero who inspired the toy—follows the legendary Space Ranger on an intergalactic adventure. The film is directed by Angus MacLane (co-director “Finding Dory”) and produced by Galyn Susman (“Toy Story That Time Forgot”).
New IMAX Theatrical Releases of Steven Spielberg Classics
Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment today announced that, for the first time, U.S. audiences will be able to experience two classic, culture-defining Steven Spielberg films—E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and Jaws—on IMAX® screens nationwide.
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released exclusively on IMAX screens beginning August 12, to celebrate the film’s 40th Anniversary. Jaws will be released on IMAX screens and also in RealD 3D beginning September 2.
The trailer for the new IMAX release of E.T. will premiere exclusively on screenings of Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World Dominion on June 10, almost 40 years to the day since E.T. originally debuted in theaters on June 11, 1982.

The Prototype – Now on Demand
Energia Films announces that Marcelo Grion’s first feature film, sci-fi thriller The Prototype, a film 20+ years in the making and self-financed by his waiter’s wages was nominated for Best Independent Film and Best Screenplay by the National Film Academy UK. The awards ceremony will be held in London on July 4th 2022. The international sales are being negotiated by Fantastic films, internationally led by Fred DeWysocki and Roxane Barbat.
The Prototype was written, produced and directed by Italian-Argentine filmmaker Marcelo Grion through his production company, Energia Films. The Phoenix, AZ-based filmmaker filmed in Italy, California, and Arizona. Grion wrote his first screenplay at age 11, studied at Fundación Universidad del Cine (FUC) and wrote, produced, and directed the short films, Jaque Mate, Luz de Amor, and El Extrano. He came to Los Angeles to produce this sci-fi script while in film school and persevered despite language and visa barriers and while working a myriad of jobs.
When a government agent uncovers an alien conspiracy to conquer Earth, he is captured and subjected to experimentation with a mysterious blue liquid as the aliens attempt to make humans stronger for use in their own armies. He wakes up 300 years into the future without his memory to find that the aliens have destroyed Earth and now he is now the only hope for mankind.
MAGNOLIA NETWORK, FOOD NETWORK TO SIMULCAST PREMIERE OF “SILOS BAKING COMPETITION” ON SUNDAY, JUNE 12 AT 8/7C
Watch on Sunday, June 12 as home bakers travel to Waco, Texas, for a friendly, one-hour competition that celebrates the joy that comes from time spent in the kitchen. Filmed in front of a live audience at The Silos in Waco, Texas, six bakers are challenged to perfect a favorite sweet-treat recipe for a $25K cash prize and a chance to have their winning treat featured on the menu at Chip and Joanna’s bakery, Silos Baking Co.
Silos Baking Competition will premiere simultaneously on Magnolia Network and Food Network on Sunday, June 12 at 8p ET / 7p CT and streams the same day on discovery+.

PRODUCTION BEGINS ON UNTITLED SISTER COMEDY FROM 20TH CENTURY STUDIOS STARRING AWKWAFINA AND SANDRA OH
Production on an untitled original sister comedy from 20th Century Studios began last week in Los Angeles. The movie will film in Los Angeles and New Orleans, wrapping production July 22, 2022, and will premiere in 2023 as a Hulu Original in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.
The movie stars Golden Globe® winner Awkwafina (“The Farewell”), Golden Globe and SAG Award® winner Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), Jason Schwartzman (“The French Dispatch”), Emmy winner Holland Taylor (“The Practice”), Emmy winner Tony Hale (“Veep”) and Will Ferrell, and is directed by Jessica Yu (“This is Us,” “The Morning Show”), written by Jen D’Angelo (“Hocus Pocus 2”) and produced by Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum (“Booksmart”) for Gloria Sanchez Productions, Maggie Haskins, Itay Reiss, Jen D’Angelo, Awkwafina, and Sandra Oh. Alex Brown (“Hustlers”) and Erika Hampson (“The Photograph”) are executive producers.
The comedy follows a brilliant but tightly wound, gameshow-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina) and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Oh), who must work together to help cover their mother’s gambling debts. When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they set out on a wild, cross-country trek to get the cash the only way they know how: by turning Anne into a bona-fide gameshow champion.

The Great American Recipe’ Premieres on PBS June 24
THE GREAT AMERICAN RECIPE is a new eight-part uplifting cooking competition that celebrates the multiculturalism that makes American food unique and iconic. Hosted by Alejandra Ramos, the series gives talented home cooks from different regions of the country the opportunity to showcase their beloved signature dishes, share their stories and compete to win the national search for “The Great American Recipe.” Judges Leah Cohen, Tiffany Derry and Graham Elliot are on hand to encourage and support the contestants along the way. In the series, ten home cooks from around the country put their culinary skills to the test. Each episode finds the contestants tasked with preparing two dishes based on that week’s theme. Each recipe is judged on taste, presentation, execution and how well it showcases the theme. One contestant will be eliminated each week until the series finale, when the three final cooks will compete head-to-head for their dish to be named “The Great American Recipe.”

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
“Prey” is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (“Jack Ryan,” “Treadstone”), and produced by John Davis (“Jungle Cruise,” “The Predator”), Jhane Myers (“Monsters of God”), and Marty Ewing (“It: Chapter Two”), with Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Ben Rosenblatt (“Snowpiercer”), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (“Fantasy Island”) serving as executive producers.
The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. As a result, the film features a Native Comanche producer (Myers), and a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent, including Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”) and Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”). The movie also stars Dane DiLiegro (“American Horror Stories”) as the Predator.
“Prey” will be available on Hulu entirely in Comanche as a language option, or with Comanche subtitles, which is the first time a feature-length movie on a direct-to-consumer streaming platform has been available in the Comanche language in its entirety.
