BOUCHRA | Premieres on VOD & Digital Platforms on August 21st

Wrestling with writer’s block for her first film, Bouchra, a queer Moroccan jackal living in NYC, starts having difficult yet overdue phone calls with her mother in Casablanca that begin influencing the project. Balancing the precarity of working as an artist in New York, the rift in her identity between her two homes and an array of friendships and romantic interests, Bouchra’s emotional reckoning with her mother and herself becomes her path to expression.

With a lived-in granularity and unmistakable visual style, BOUCHRA, the feature debut from acclaimed visual artists Meriem Bennani and Orian Barki (best known together from their 2020 web series 2 LIZARDS), is a singular portrait effortlessly towing the line between documentary, visual art and resonant family drama. Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars,” is a riveting, epic thriller set in a world where survival is instinct, but humanity is a choice. Scott tells the story of Hig, a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley, has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world until a mysterious radio transmission spurs Hig to venture into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exists.

David Harbour reprises his role as Santa Claus in a propulsive new chapter in yuletide mayhem from 87North—the powerhouse producers of Bullet Train, John Wick, The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde and the Nobody franchise—and returning action director Tommy Wirkola.

In 2022’s bare-knuckle holiday sensation, Violent Night, an embittered Santa, armed with lethal combat skills, took out a team of mercenaries to rescue a girl and her family. Now, not-so-jolly Saint Nick suits up again to take on a ruthless gangster (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jared Harris) terrorizing the merchants of the Silver Bell Mall.

But when Santa forgets the true meaning of Christmas, he finds himself in the heart of a lively mall community in desperate need of his help. Sapped of his magic, he’ll need another way to take on the goons threatening the mall, and time is running out. Santa has to rediscover his faith in goodness and call in some last-minute reinforcements from the one person no baddie wants to tangle with: Mrs. Claus (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell).

Along with David Harbour, Jared Harris and Kristen Bell, the dynamic cast includes Emmy winning screen legend Joe Pantoliano (The Last of Us, The Sopranos), Daniela Melchior (Fast X, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Andrew Bachelor (Greenland, The Walking Dead), and AEW professional wrestler Maxwell Friedman (The Iron Claw, Happy Gilmore 2).

Violent Night 2 is directed by returning filmmaker Tommy Wirkola and produced again by 87North founders Kelly McCormick and David Leitch. The film’s returning screenwriters are Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Violent Night 2 will be released by Universal Pictures.

THE HOUSEMAID’S SECRET | Brittany Snow Joins The Cast – Coming to theaters December 17, 2027

BRITTANY SNOW, star of Lionsgate Television’s hit series The Hunting Wives, has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s upcoming feature film The Housemaid’s Secret, opposite Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst, and Paul Anthony Kelly.

Snow will play the role of Marybeth.

Paul Feig returns to direct the project, joined by the producers: Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman; Laura Fischer and Feig, who produce for Pretty Dangerous Pictures; and Sweeney, through her Honey Trap banner.

The film is the sequel to the $400-million-grossing blockbuster The Housemaid.

Michele Morrone will also return to star as Enzo, reprising his role from the first film.

The film will open on December 17, 2027 in wide release.

Hulu Greenlights Season 3 of Hit Australian Original Series “The Artful Dodger”

Hulu Original series The Artful Dodger has been greenlit for a third and final season. The high-octane Season 3 will be packed with more grit, bigger heists and bolder hijinks when it premieres on Hulu in the U.S.

The all-star cast, which includes Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit, Wolf Hall), David Thewlis(Landscapers, Avatar: Fire and Ash) and Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble, Never Goin’ Back),are returning in their respective roles as Dr. Jack Dawkins, Norbet Fagin and Lady Belle Fox.

Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures’ Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner return as Executive Producers/Producers with Chris Martin-Jones (A Place to Call Home, Home and Away)as Series Producer. Ben Young (The Twelve, Clickbait)and Ben C. Lucas (The Survivors, High Country) returnas Directors.

Multi-award-winner and BAFTA nominee, Andrew Knight (Hacksaw Ridge, Jack Irish, Rake),will return to lead the scripting as Executive Producer, alongside Dan Knight (Irreverent) as Script Producer, who has written across all three seasons. Andrew Knight was also the first season’s Co-Script Lead and Co-Executive Producer.

Filming on Season 3 will take place in Sydney, Australia and start in the coming months.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Artful Dodger are now streaming on Hulu in the U.S. The series was co-created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor.

BritBox reveals additional Hercule cast joining Edward Bluemel in upcoming drama series

BritBox announced additional casting for the upcoming six-part drama series Hercule, starring Edward Bluemel as Agatha Christie’s iconic Belgian detective, a Mammoth Screen/Agatha Christie Productions production for BritBox and BBC.

Joining Bluemel are Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), James D’Arcy (Oppenheimer, Constellations), Calvin Demba (Supacell, Life), Phil Dunning (Smoggie Queens, Am I Being Unreasonable?), Jack Gleeson (House of Guinness, In the Land of the Saints and Sinners), Tamsin Greig (Riot Women, Friday Night Dinner), James Nesbitt (Cold Feet, Run Away), Guy Remmers (The Buccaneers, Lessons), Rebecca Rittenhouse (His & Hers, Maggie) and Mawaan Rizwan (Juice, The Split Up).

Hercule will chronicle the story of the world’s greatest detective – and how he became it. The series, due to commence filming soon, primarily in Liverpool, is an intimate study of Hercule Poirot, the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars. It will center around three of Christie’s early stories, while also introducing Hercule Poirot to future friends and allies and one particular nemesis…

Written by Benji Walters (Code of Silence, The Leopard, Obsession), the first two episodes are being directed by Jonny Campbell (Am I Being Unreasonable?, In The Flesh), with Chanya Button (Code of Silence, Doctor Who) and Alrick Riley (Bridgerton, How to Get Away with Murder) directing Block 2 and Block 3. Charlie Palmer (A Woman Of Substance, Extraordinary) serves as series producer.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest detectives in fiction, Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot novels have sold over 750 million copies, captivating readers and audiences for more than a century.

Hercule (6 x 60’) is produced by Mammoth Screen (a part of ITV Studios) and Agatha Christie Limited for BritBox in North America, BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK.

The series is adapted by Benji Walters.
