In our home, the salad spinner is one of the items that I use multiple times a day. I’m a firm believer that at least for dinner, half of the plate should be a nice healthy salad. But that means washing a lot of greens and fresh vegetables. My old salad spinner has done it’s time, and works well, but it isn’t as flexible as I’d like. It whips around at such a fast speed it wasn’t made to wash more delicate things like herbs and berries. Trudeau sent me their Stress Less 3-in-1 Salad Spinner to test out and use for the more delicate washing needs.
It seems we fell right into summer this year and have missed spring completely. But the good news is it means my salad greens are are ready to be enjoyed and we can have a fresh salad from the back patio every night. Growing the greens ourselves means they will have dirt, bugs and possibly other things on them, so they need a good washing before we enjoy them. I simply take my Trudeau Herb Snips out to the pot and gather some spinach, kale and greens and toss them in the spinner’s basket. After a good soaking they’re ready to go for a spin or two before we enjoy them for dinner.
Unlike other salad spinner’s on the market the Stress Less 3-in-1 Salad Spinner doesn’t have a cord to pull like a lawn mower, or a pump to make it spin. It actually has one simple motion that is easy to do and is ergonomic. The Stress Less Salad Spinner didn’t come with instructions, but it’s actually pretty easy to figure out how to use. You stand the handle upright on the top and move it towards either the berry image, the herb image or salad greens image depending on what you’re washing. You can increase the speed by moving the handle to the image again, or let it spin back to it’s home place and the salad spinner will continue to work.
The actual motion of getting the salad spinner moving is a little bit hard to get use to at first, since the inset ring of the lid moves completely around. But it doesn’t take a lot of force to get it moving and the rotating of the lid is easy enough for someone with arthritis or limited mobility to use. I do like that the Stress Less spinner has the three different speed settings so I can wash the fresh berries from out back without worrying that they will get squashed or worse while they were going full speed.
There are a few things that I really like about the Stress Less Salad Spinner. First, the shape of whole unit in general is shorter and flatter than others on the market. This means it has a lower center of gravity and it wont go flying off my counter like my old one did on occasion. The shape also means it’s easier to store even put together. If you do happen to get the salad spinner going really fast, you wont need to worry about it trying to make a get away – it has a fully lined gripping bottom that will keep it in place. In using ours I haven’t noticed it even try to skip or jump at all even going as fast as I can make it go. The Stress Less Salad Spinner is completely dishwasher safe, but I choose to hand wash since it gets used multiple times a day.
The Trudeau Stress Less 3-in-1 Salad Spinner helps wash the most delicate berries, herbs and salad greens and afterwards the bottom bowl can be used to serve them in. After I figured out how to get it started, the Stress Less Salad Spinner has been getting a workout every day and helping keep us healthy with fresh salads and berries with each meal.
