Imagine a world where mammals other than humans developed, imagine what the world would look like and what it would be like. That is exactly what the artists and designers at Disney did when they created Zootopia. A new world where mammals of all sizes developed their own world. The new film Zootopia is in theaters everywhere today, but we were given a sneak peek of the movie earlier this week.
Even before we saw the movie we knew that we wanted to see Zootopia as soon as it hit theaters, but we had no idea how much we’d like it. The movie focuses on Judy Hopps, a bunny who dreams big. She’s not ready to settle and become a carrot farmer like her 280 other siblings, instead she wants to become the first rabbit cop is Zootopia! The pint sized hero heads to Zootopia with big plans and big ideas. She believes the slogan that in Zootopia you can be anything you want. Her trusting heart and good nature is quickly betrayed and she has to not only prove herself that she’s up to the job but there’s good in the world.
Like most Disney movies, Zootopia has a moral story woven into it. And I found that a lot of the issues in the movie parallel some that we see in the world around us every day. While Zootopia is suppose to be a utopia of worlds, the differences in mammal species can cause some prejudice, misunderstandings and even fear. But like most other moral tales, there is a right answer and the movie covers it nicely.
Overall the movie is beautifully animated and rendered, allowing the viewers to completely enjoy the world of Zootopia. The story will make you laugh, and has some very heart felt moments as well as a couple scary moments (one even made me jump!) Zootopia is a movie your children will enjoy, mixed with enough humor and jokes that parents will enjoy watching it again. And with voices by Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Bonnie Hunt, Tommy Chong, and Shakira it will be a movie you wont want to miss.
