2017 Kia Sportage Review

Travel in style with the 2017 Kia Sportage SX

2017 Kia Sportage ReviewIt’s almost time for summer road trips and get-aways, even if they take you up to the land of Christmas! Last month Kia loaned me their brand new 2017 Kia Sportage SX to review, and take with me for a trip up to Frankenmuth, Michigan. The trip to little Bavaria was only a day trip, but meant a long drive through morning rush hour and one back that evening. The Sportage offered a comfortable ride for the trip, including all of the bells and whistles that makes every car lover drool.

2017 Kia Sportage ReviewWhen I slid into the driver’s seat of the Kia Sportage SX the first time I was hit with that lovely new car smell. It’s that one smell we all love, and this car came loaded with some of my favorite features – heated seats and steering wheels. Even though we’re well into spring – the day of the trip the temperatures dropped to 40 degrees, and we reverted to a cold winter day. That weather didn’t stop me from taking advantage of the beautiful panoramic sun roof to let in some sun and warmth.

2017 Kia Sportage ReviewThe first thing that strikes you about the 2017 Sportage is it’s appearance. The updated exterior reminds you higher end vehicles and the interior doesn’t disappoint. Inside you’ll find leather seats, every upgraded feature you could want and every comfort for the driver and passengers. While driving the 2017 Sportage I did encounter two quirks I want to note. First, there isn’t a gas door latch, instead it’s a push to open system. That is fairly standard, but the quirk comes in when it wont open if the vehicle is locked. This took me a few minutes to figure out, and was a bit of a pain since I like to keep my car locked while pumping gas. The other quirk I noticed was with the touch screen interface, it wasn’t as intuitive as I’m use to and I found it hard to switch screens or get the view I wanted. Overall, these weren’t major issues and with more time with the Sportage I’d be able to figure them out or get use to the new set up.

2017 Kia Sportage ReviewYou can fit the whole family inside the 2017 Sportage, it comfortably seats five and still has plenty of storage space. The back passenger seats actually recline, or stow completely flat when you need more space for hauling. There is leg room for miles in the front and back to make sure that all of the passengers have a comfortable ride. The Sportage is loaded with safety features to keep your focused on the road including: Dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full length side curtain airbags, rollover sensor, 3 point seat belts for all seating positions, front seat-belt pretensioners, 4 wheel disc breaks, vehicble stability management, traction control system, electronic brake-force distribution, break assist system, hill start assist control, downhill break control, tire pressure monitoring system, side-impact door beams, front and rear crumple zones, lower anchors and tethers for children, and rear child-safety door locks.

2017 Kia Sportage ReviewDriving the 2017 Kia Sportage SX is a lot of fun. Besides offering a smooth ride, the car has a lot of pick up and will have you zipping down the road in no time. It’s the perfect vehicle for a day trip, or just a trip to the grocery store. The Sportage is filled with features, has an elegant look and will have you loving each moment of your drive.

The 2017 Kia Sportage SX starts at $33,000 and gets on average 23 miles city and 30 highway.
