I’ve always loved getting baked potatoes when I go out to a restaurant, yes they’re relatively easy to make at home – but they’re just not the same. I want the crunchy skin with salt on it, the hot and soft inside. Ya know – the perfect baked potato! Making the perfect baked potato at home is extremely easy to do – and no, we’re not going to do this in the microwave!
- Large potatoes – as many as you’re going to make, usually 1 per person
- Coarse Sea Salt
- Canola Oil
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
- Wash your potatoes and remove any blemishes. Place in a bowl.
- Using a sharp knife pierce each potato several times, at least once on each end, and a couple times on each size.
- Pour about 2 Tbsp of Canola Oil over your potatoes and roll each potato in the oil until you see it glisten on the skin. Don’t drench them, just make sure they’re coated.
- Place on a cookie sheet with a baking mat (or tin foil) and sprinkle on your coarse sea salt. Flip and make sure you have the salt on all sides.
- Bake for 1 hour to 90 minutes until the potatoes are soft to the touch.
You will have crisp skin with the salt on it, and soft potatoes to top with your favorite goodies. No more soggy skins from zapping them in the microwave!
