Throughout our many years of history class we learn many of the details of World War II. Yes, a lot of the information we learn revolve around Hitler and his actions, as well the involvement for the USA in the war. We all know that story and how the war ended but no matter how many times we hear the story, there is something new to learn.

Winston Churchill is another figure we learn about. He was the Prime Minister during the war and he made a quite a difference in the war but do you know just how hard the beginning of his Prime Ministership was?

I admit that I know the about the big moves he made and some of his actions before the USA entered the war. I knew nothing about the struggles he faced when he first started his journey. The new film The Darkest Hour gives a very detailed account of the first days of Churchill’s new role in the British government.

Churchill became the Prime Minister when there was no other option to lead a country that was torn by war. Not always the favorite person, due to past decision, Churchill is determined to protect his country and defeat Hitler. Not supported by his own party, Churchill struggled to stand his ground and be the brave Prime Minister that Britain needed. The sheer amount of resistance he showed in those days is amazing.

The Darkest Hour is full of historical information and shows the true resilience of a dedicated man. It’s not a movie for kids, but it worth spending a few hours watching, especially if you are interested in World War II history.

Focus Features will release Darkest Hour in select cities on December 22, 2017. For more information on the film and to watch the trailer check out the information below!
