The Art of Racing in the Rain Movie Review

The Art of Racing in the Rain Tugs at Your Heartstrings

If you’re a pet lover, there’s no doubt that you’ve wondered what is going on in their minds. There’s something about the connection you have with your pets that connects you at a different level, and while you have them in your family – they quietly take part in some of the most important parts of your life.

After a long list of “dog movies”, The Art of Racing in the rain takes it from another perspective. The movie follows Enzo, a golden retriever who was adopted as a puppy by Denny, an up and coming race car driver. Being raised at the track, Enzo feels he has the heart of a racer, despite being just a dog.

He was a racecar driver – the way I was a dog – his destiny

Enzo

Throughout his life, Enzo is with Denny through every stop of his career, his life and even the hardest times. As their family grows, Enzo is there through it all and part of the family. The movie is told through Enzo’s eyes, but when it is not told through his eyes we get a look at the life of a racer and the exciting, and often hard parts of the automotive world. Surrounded by cars, the lingo and even sage advice from racers, the racing world inundates both of their lives and feeds into Enzo’s need and love for racing as well.

I know no one has a perfect childhood, but I contend I did

Enzo

The movie is put together with a sensitivity of the deep relationship between both Enzo, Denny and the other family members. With heavy moments tempered with the well placed comedic moment, the movie is balanced and one that you will feel tug at your heart strings.

Pet owners will relate to the different things that Denny goes through with Enzo, and it may even make you understand your connection with your pet a little more. Your souls are connected and you will relate to that special connection.

A true champion can accomplish what others think is impossible

So grab some tissues, head into the theater and enjoy The Art of Racing in the Rain. It’ll make you want to hug your pets just a little tighter when you get home afterwards.

The film follows Denny and the loves of his life – his wife, Eve (Amanda Seyfried), their young daughter Zoe (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and ultimately, his true best friend, Enzo.
