Sci-Fi and space epic movies are one of the most popular genres right now. But not all of them are made for all ages. While some kids are absolutely fine with the battles, death scenes, and darker sides of the series and movies, others may find it too intense. But now there is a more kid-friendly sci-fi movie on Disney+ – Crater.

Crater follows a group of young teens on an adventure to go out and explore the crater on the Moon, while their colony is on lockdown for an asteroid field passes through the area. After the loss of his father, Caleb, is set to move to a better planet but not without one last adventure with his friends. Of course, nothing goes as the group of untrained and unprepared friends hoped.

Crater does feel like one of the typical coming-of-age stories that we all have seen before. A group of young teens that goes against what they’re supposed to do to have an adventure. The group obviously doesn’t have the skills to be doing what they are, but together work together to overcome some of the worst of it. But at its heart, the movie does offer some great moments of friendship and adventure that younger viewers will enjoy.

Crater is a low-stakes sci-fi movie for young viewers. There are some moments that are a bit more intense, but not the epic space battles that parents will have to worry about. Instead, it focuses on friendship and the possibilities of the future.

Crater is now streaming on Disney+, and while it may not be the most epic space adventure on the platform, it is one that teens and younger viewers will enjoy.
