Did you know they’re not even teaching cursive in some schools now days? To me, not only is that sad – but we’re losing a way to communicate. I love writing in cursive, and for me it’s easier than lettering by hand. But one step further is hand-lettering – creating beautiful artwork with your letters. The thought of creating artwork with my words, or even calligraphy is daunting to me. But now there’s a new book that makes hand-lettering easy to get started and perfect hand lettering.
We were sent a copy of Hand-Lettering For Everyone: A Creative Workbook by Cristina Vanko. Inside you will find a history and trends of typography, step-by-step guidance for finding your own lettering style, and tips to make your lettering unique. When you first open the book, there’s even a oath to take to learn more about your own hand lettering style.
The book helps you explore typography, calligraphy and your own hand-lettering techniques. You can do the work sheet pages, doodle and learn to create beautiful hand-lettered works and learn more about the ones out there already. I love the book and the idea of developing my own hand lettering style. While the idea of doing hand-letter is still a little daunting, after a few more lessons with Hand-Lettering for Everyone, I’ll be working on our own holiday cards, invitations and more! The hand-lettered and hand created gives each item a personal touch, and that I absolutely love.
Hand-Lettering for Everyone: A Creative Workbook is available online and at stores near you. It’s time to add the personal touch back to things you create.
