Starting to Feel Like Home

the move is here

Godiva

So it was just over two weeks ago that we moved into our new place. We’re still surrounded by boxes, and making the place our own. Part of that is because just a week after the moving truck pulled in, I was on a plane and off for a conference and some fun with a couple bloggers (more posts on that coming really soon). But between our work schedules, imposing heat and humidity this weekend and everything else it’s taking a bit longer than we expected to unpack.

Compared to the last house, it’s a surprising change how quiet it is here. We’re now getting woken up by birds in the morning, rather than loud music and cursing neighbors. It even seems the appliances are working better – the oven is cooking more evenly and fridge is staying colder. We’re just waiting on the dishwasher to be delivered (that’s a longer story for another day).

And Godiva? After a few days of hiding, is adjusting well. It was the third night she started exploring, and every night since then she’s been sleeping on our heads. Her long fear of boxes is still there, but she’s been doing well here as the boxes go away slowly. She’s even got new windows she can perch in and chirp at the birds and squirrels. Her favorite would be a toss up between the front window and the back screen door – there’s so much to see and do.

So pardon the dust, and slow response time on here as I’m working to get things back to “normal”. Each day becomes another balance of digging through boxes to find the Pyrex or even our dishes. But we’ll get there soon, and this week is my week to play catch up on it all. Don’t worry, Godiva will be supervising. She’s happier here too – well until we bring in a new friend for her ;).

Stay cool out there – I’ll be back to update you shortly, and have some pretty awesome things coming soon!
