We’ve all been there, sitting around the table with some of your girlfriends and you’re the only one ordering a bourbon neat. It’s not usually a drink associated with women, or considered “girlie” but while there is a growing number of women who are looking to challenge that notion. Not only that bourbon is enjoyed by women, but the complex liquor is one that women can gather around.
Bourbon Women was created with spirited women in mind, and as a way for the them to gather, enjoy and learn more about their drink of choice. The organization was created for not only the bourbon experts, but also for novice drinkers so they can learn what goes into their favorite drinks but also different ways to enjoy it.
Last week, at Charlie’s Still on Main in Milford the first meeting of Bourbon Women Michigan met for a sampling and dinner event. Featuring a honey based signature cocktail attendees were treated to five different bourbons to try out and sample. A brief history of each of the different bourbon, and how to properly sample them was part of the evening, followed by a home style dinner.
Offering women who like a stiff drink and want to experience a bit more of what makes bourbon great, Bourbon Women is offering a different way for women to connect, learn and network. With the first official event in the books, Bourbon Women Michigan is planning the next event where you can be surrounded with like minded spirited women, and enjoy it a new experience at an affordable price.
