One of the simplest recipes I learned to make in my slow cooker was a pot roast. Just toss in the ingredients and let it cook. It’s great right? I always loved the roast, but I loved the left overs more because we’d add barbecue sauce and make sandwiches. As I got older I stopped making it as a roast and just went for a large pot of barbecue. The recipe is simple to make, and will have everyone asking for more. One of the best parts, for me – if you’re using your gluten free Onion Soup Mix, the beef barbecues are gluten free as well!
Ingredients:
- 3 lb Chuck Roast
- 1 Medium Onion Diced
- 1 package of Onion Soup Mix or 5 tbsp Gluten Free Onion Soup Mix
- 1 cup of Water
- Salt and Pepper
- 1 cup Barbecue Sauce
Directions:
- Place your roast in the bottom of your slow cooker and salt and pepper each side of the roast.
- Add in your onions, soup mix and water. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours.
- Drain all but 1/4 cup of the juice from the crock, and using forks pull the meat into thin ribbons. Add in your barbecue sauce and mix.
