What wouldn’t you do for to protect your child? She Rides Shotgun puts a father, and newly released ex-con Nate (Taron Egerton) in an extreme situation where he’s fighting for his life as well as that of his daughter Polly’s (Ana Sophia Heger).
After his release from prison, Nate picks up his daughter from school and takes her on the run. What he’s not telling her – her mother and step-father have both been killed. The police, news and everyone (including Polly), automatically assume Nate is the reason for their deaths, but the story goes deeper than you’d expect.

The movie is gritty and shows the depth and power of parental connection as Nate fights for their lives. But it seems to be lacking a bit of warmth, some connection between the characters or something else. It doesn’t leave much mystery to the situation as the story goes on, but Polly quickly adapts to life on the run and will do anything to protect her father as well.
There is action, car chases, bloody deaths and everything you’d hope from this type of movie. But it still seems like there is an element missing along the way. It’s not a horrible movie, but it’s not one that you’ll be likely to revisit again and again. Instead, it’s not totally objectionable to burn a couple hours watching the movie, but may not be worth spending the money in a theater to do it.
She Rides Shotgun is currently playing in theaters.

About She Rides Shotgun
In the gritty, explosive action-thriller She Rides Shotgun, Taron Egerton stars as newly released ex-con Nate. Marked for death by unrelenting enemies, Nate must now protect his estranged 11-year-old daughter, Polly (Ana Sophia Heger) at all costs. Shy, precocious, and wary of her father, Polly is swept up in Nate’s dangerous plight as they flee to evade the corrupt sheriff and brutal leader of a gang who will stop at nothing to protect his criminal interests. With scant resources and no one to trust, Nate and Polly form a bond forged under fire as he shows her how to fight and survive — and she teaches him what unconditional love truly means in this intense, moving story about loyalty, strength, and redemption.
Lionsgate and Fifth Season present, in association with Waypoint Entertainment, a Makeready and Super Frog production.
