This is one of my favorite times of the year. Not only do I get to spend a lot of time with my family that I don’t always get to see, but we get to snuggle up and watch some of our favorite movies together. We were sent a copy of Angels Sing to watch and add to our holiday spirit.
Every night of the week we’re watching a different holiday movie that we love, but I had never seen Angels Sing before our viewing party, and, it’s not exactly what I expected it would be! I’m use to feel good holiday movies or comedies, instead Angels Sing was a movie that discussed a lot of loss and how it effects your mood during the holiday season. it was more relate-able than a green Grinch or a child fighting against half witted burglars. Instead it takes you on the journey with a father who lost the Christmas spirit with the death of his brother as a child, and how his journey is mirrored with that of his own son’s when they experience another loss. But mixed with goofy neighbors, a good hearted old gentleman and the perfect house the family needs on a street that is known for having the most Christmas cheer, the family can heal together and find their Christmas spirit. While several parts of the movie are not what I expected for a holiday movie, it was still a great experience to see the movie, and how the story develops and the holiday spirit that shines through.
Before we had our viewing party I wanted to make sure our house was decked out for the season – that is part of what helps get people (and me) into the holiday spirit! I didn’t get as much done as I wanted, but I made sure our guests had some of their favorite holiday treats on hand, plus a couple more traditional movie snacks. From candy canes, holiday Hershey kisses, and to those coveted Ghirardelli Peppermint bark squares and chocolate chip cookies our guest had some delicious treats waiting. I think the chocolate was just what we needed to to hit the spot during the emotional parts of the movie!
You can find Angels Sing on Amazon on DVD and Blu-Ray, or find it on the Hallmark channel this holiday season. With our copy of Angels Sing, we were also sent a Target gift card so we can get our favorite holiday snacks and treats for our guests.
