heart of haiti bowl review

heart of haiti bowl reviewHow you decorate your home is always unique to you, and is a great way to express your style. We’re huge on having unique items through the house that you can’t just get anywhere, and have a great story attached to them. That was one of the first things I loved about the Heart of Haiti items you can find at select Macy’s. I was sent the Heart of Haiti Recycled Metal Round Chrysanthemum Bowl to review, and to help spread awareness of the Heart of Haiti Mission.

heart of haiti bowl reviewHeart of Haiti is one of the charities that Macy’s supports, and their partnership helps women in Haiti earn a sustainable income for their families through their artistry. All of the items offered at select Macy’s locations and on their website. These handmade items speak volumes about the passion of their culture, the strength of family bonds and the importance of art in their community. Macy’s Heart of Haiti employs 550 artisans while helping to support 4,500 others through the program.

heart of haiti bowl reviewThe Chrysanthemum Bowl, is not only beautiful but has a great story behind it. You can actually see the hammer marks in the bowl from a single piece of recycled metal with pierced tracery to create the appearance of the flower. The bowl is shallow, and when the light passes through it you get the pattern in the shadows on the table top.

Besides the obvious benefit of getting a beautiful gift, the Heart of Haiti items also are great because they are gifts that give hope. I absolutely love the concept of handmade items and gifts for Mother’s Day and other holidays, and often have created gifts from hand myself. A few years ago when I was laid off, I created jewelry to give as gifts and to sell for income. It may seem small, but items created with love can help support the family.

Heart of Haiti has several artisans in the program and each creates unique items that would be great gift options for Mother’s Day. One of the artists in the program is Chena Giles who carves local soapstone while her children are in school. Check out her story below:

This year, give Mom a gift that is unique and can help give hope to families in Haiti. Find great artwork and more at
