Welcome to Chippendales Review
Welcome to Chippendales -- A sprawling true-crime saga, “Welcome to Chippendales” tells the outrageous story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire—and let nothing stand in his way in the process. When Chippendales first opened their doors in Los Angeles, they were the beginning of a cultural phenomenon no one saw coming. And the man behind the scenes was not someone anyone would have believed – a quiet Indian immigrant who got his start-up money from working a gas station. But after some struggles, he not only created a company that has international recognition but has changed a lot of the live entertainment scene as well.

As the women lined the block to get in to see male dancers, a first-of-its-kind show no one really knew what was happening behind the scenes. What most of the public didn’t know was that while money was flowing in for the business, there were also murders, lawsuits, and a lot more going on too. What did make the papers, didn’t change the shows popularity or the ability for it to start to take the world by storm.

Starting at the very beginning of the story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee’s idea, Welcome to Chippendales is about to take viewers on a ride through crime, sex, nudity, drugs, and a lot more. The eighties truly were a wild place and that was even before the dancing began. The series shows how the idea of a humble gaming club morphed and grew into the dance show and bar that became Chippendales, and the rag-to-riches stories it brought with it.

Sometimes life is really stranger than reality, and Welcome to Chippendales highlights that perfectly. Kumail Nanjiani takes on the role of the quiet-mannered Somen and morphs more into a harder Steve as the series goes on. Each episode delves deeper into how dark the industry was and what it actually cost the owners, their employees, and the dancers along the way. It’s hard to turn off, and the compelling storytelling makes you want to know what happened next after each episode.

Welcome to Chippendales will be debuting on November 22nd with the first 2 episodes. The remaining 8 episodes will be released weekly. The series will have you hooked and make you want to watch each and every episode as soon as it comes out. With a stellar cast and a story that seems too twisted to be true, it will make you wonder what else we may have missed while this cultural phenomenon swept the nation.
