Return to Oz with the Guardians of Oz a New Take on a Classic

guardians of oz reviewWe all know the story of the Wizard of Oz, and now the story has been reimagined and brought back to screens with Guardians of Oz. Dive into a magical adventure the whole family will enjoy. The world of Oz is fantastically recreated with story and character design by Golden Globe®-nominated filmmaker Jorge Gutiérrez (The Book of Life). Starring YouTube sensations @jennxpenn and Mikey Bolts, the classic tale is revamped into delightful animation featuring new characters in an original story.

Guardians of Oz is a family safe movie that earned the Dove Foundation’s seal of approval, so you know it’ll be safe for every member of the family. The story takes you back to Oz and has flying monkeys, a Wicked witch and lions you would expect to find in Oz, but in adorable animated versions that your kids will like to watch over and over. We love the kid safe story, and the animation and story overall.

Guardians of Oz is now available on DVD, and has a total run time of 88 minutes. It is rated PG for mild action, but there aren’t any scary parts in the movie.

  • Behind-the-Scenes Featurette

Wicked witch Eviline (Ambyr Childers) tries to steal back the broom that holds her powers, but Ozzy, a kindhearted flying monkey, snags it instead. Hoping to rescue his father, Ozzy joins forces with cheeky young sorceress Gabby. But can they find the Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Woodman — and lift the enchanted spells Eviline has imprisoned them with? Visionary animator Jorge Gutiérrez (The Book of Life) continues the enchanted saga of Oz in this dazzlingly funny family adventure.
