The Paw Patrol is back! And this time, they’re more powerful than ever. When an evil scientist tries to capture the powers inside the crystals in a meteor – the pups step in and stop the worst from happening. But they also each get a crystal that gives them the superpowers that amplify their personalities and best qualities to help them fight the bad guys even better.

Paw Patrol The Mighty Movie of course brings back the pups we know and love from the series and the last movie, but it also introduces a new set of puppies who can’t wait to join the Paw Patrol when they are older. Which, is actually interesting since the Paw Patrol are puppies themselves. The new junior Pawtrolers being younger and smaller than the team, means that the Paw Patrol is more in their teen years when they go out on these adventures now. The new puppies are cute, fluffy, and sometimes a bit ferocious. And despite their size, they help make a difference when they are needed most.
Besides fighting crime, the movie seems to have a second storyline all about Skye – the smallest pup in the Paw Patrol. She’s questioning if she even belongs there and if she can be useful to the team with and without her powers. But the movie has a sweet message about being true to yourself, but also that others can see more in you than you expect. A very apt and powerful message for kids to hear young and hold onto.

Paw Patrol: The Mighty movie is a fun and cute adventure for the whole family. While the antics of the bad guys are of course going to put Adventure City at risk time and time again, they still seem pretty low risk as far as kids’ movies go. The asteroids are diverted and the bad guys are caught – no one is seriously hurt and there aren’t any gross injuries or bad words for parents to worry about. The music choices throughout the movie may make parents stop a couple of times, but songs like I Love It by Icona Pop are sanitized for younger audiences and the beat is what drives the scene and action.
With a good message at the core of the movie as Skye learns to embrace herself and trust that her team and friends like her for who she is – the movie is going to be one that kids love to watch. Yes, there are absolutely silly parts of the movie – but if you’re tuning in to watch a movie about talking dogs who fight crime and protect a whole city, that is the least of your worries.
If you’re able to catch Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie in theaters, take the kids to a show with a lot of kids their age. Not only will you be surrounded by little kids who are howling along with the Paw Patrol – but you just might get a full commentary from kids around you which can be more entertaining than most movies on their own.
