Tomorrow morning, the newest Kroger Marketplace will open it’s doors to shoppers in Royal Oak. The 115,000 square foot store offers everything from organic food options, fresh food, clothing, furniture and more. I was treated to early access to the store tonight before it opens its doors, and inside is nothing short of beautiful.
Kroger has been expanding in Michigan, specifically the Metro Detroit area a lot in the past couple of years. Either the brand has been opening new stores within an area that needs it, or rebuilding and offering larger options to other areas. But throughout their growth, Kroger has stayed committed to offering shoppers local products, quality service and focusing on the local community. Inside their newest store customers are treated to a full service Starbucks location, a sushi bar, build your own pizza bar, fresh sandwich bar, Murray’s Cheese, a wine and beer bar, a full service pharmacy that offers free delivery of medication and a bank branch inside. You can have a fresh meal made in the store, and even rent out a space to hold a meeting for your business. The floor space within the new Kroger doesn’t allow for a jewelry store, but you can find everything you need for your home, kitchen and groceries inside the walls.
The commitment of Kroger to purchase and utilize local vendors can be seen throughout the store. From a custom wall mural painted by a local Royal Oak artist, to signs noting the Michigan made products throughout. All of the consumable products within the store make it from the delivery truck to the shelf within a day or two of arriving, and the Michigan dairy products are locally sourced from the Livonia processing plant (look for dairy code 26 for Michigan Dairy!) and includes all of the dairy biproducts like cottage cheese, sour cream and butter options.
Tomorrow at 8 am, the new Kroger Marketplace will open it’s doors to customers for the first time. Inside shoppers will be treated to live music, giveaways throughout the store, samplings of foods from Melissa’s Produce, Rinaldi Sausage, Bolthouse Juices and many more. As part of their grand opening, the first 400 customers at the store tomorrow morning will receive a shopping bag as well as a $10 gift card. Stop in and check out the new space and everything it has to offer.
