Every once in a while I end up making up a meal that isn’t gluten free, it tends to happen when I’m sent ingredients that I can’t have. The result is a dish that is sent off with my boyfriend for him and his friends for their game night. This is what happened when Colavita sent me a selection of their products to try out, including their bow tie pasta. It was time for me to think out of the box and come up with something the guys would love to eat. You can of course make this with any pasta you want, and next time it will be with gluten free ones so I can enjoy it as well. But this recipe was a hit and it will be in our meal rotation now.
- 2 tbsp of Olive Oil
- 1 cup Onion Chopped
- 1 lb of ground Mild Italian sausage
- 2 tbsp of Minced Garlic
- 3 cups Homemade Marinara Sauce
- 1 cup Half&Half
- 5 cups uncooked Bow Tie Pasta
- 2 cups uncooked Spinach
- chopped Parsley
Directions:
- In a large pot add in the olive oil and onions. Cook over medium high heat for a few minutes until softened but not browned.
- Roll the Italian Sausage into 1 inch meal balls and add them to the onions in the pan. Brown the outsides and cook for about 5 minutes. Add in your garlic and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Add in your marinara, half and half and pasta noodles. Cover and cook on medium low on 15 minutes.
- Remove the lid and add in your spinach. Turn off the heat and return the lid. Let set for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley and enjoy warm.
