We were invited to the event, and got a special treat by experiencing the magic of the grand opening right up front. Today’s event not only include Radio Disney and events, but dance alongs, Mickey ears and even Story Time and coloring options. The Grand Opening also included a Key Ceremony, where a local child was selected to unlock the new location to the public, using the “Key to Imagination”. Today’s event also benefits local Boys and Girl’s Clubs of America and 10% of the merchandise sales will go to the local chapters.
The first 500 guests to the store received a special free gift of Mickey Mouse ears! Guests started lining up at 7 am for their chance to see the new store, and see their favorite characters. Inside not only will they find toys, apparel and home products featuring your favorite characters and even some from new movies. You can find new products for Maleficent Movie, Marvel movies, Star Wars and watch out – the stuffed Olaf’s are flying off the shelves!
We loved the new store, not only can you find every one of your favorite characters but the atmosphere is fantastic. You begin to feel like a kid again just looking around and being surrounded by your childhood favorites. But the new store not only has a new design overall – it also has a local tie! When you visit the store check out the graphics around the top of the walls, they are local scenes from around Troy. And as an added bonus for me, when we first walked into the store the video and song from one of my favorite songs from Mary Poppins was on!
Mickey and Minnie are still at the Somerset Collection until 4 pm today for you and your children to get hugs, and pictures! The store is on the 3rd level of the North side of the mall, right by Build-A-Bear and the LEGO Store… The perfect place for children of all ages!
