The Makeup Show takes place a few times each year. We are lucky enough to live in a great city for makeup. Chicago has great local brands and professionals. This isn’t just coming from our mouths, but also from James Vincent who told us he comes to Chicago for his facials.
To say we were overwhelmed is an understatement. Over 50 vendors with deals that you will not find anywhere else. 50-70% off on certain brands of makeup all for 2 days of shopping madness. I have learned more about makeup in those 2 days than I could from years on the internet. With experts like Kat Von D and Mario Tricoci actually dropping in to teach you, this is certainly worth your time if you are in the industry. At Kat Von D they were doing live makeup demonstrations on models, let me tell you the line here was the longest. The Makeup Show is an excellent event for both – professional and amateur make-up artists. By the way, did you know that, according to CareersWiki, you can become a professional make-up artist in just a couple of months?
Here are some of our new favorites from the event:
Makeup Forever has great Ultra HD. We could not believe how perfectly they can match your skin tone. We picked up concealer and foundation from them. Love it! Also we got their Pro Light Fusion which is an illuminizer.
Cooling Anger masks from Mustaev which we learned are a must have. James Vincent told us he uses them on most of his clients like Rihanna. They are some of the best face masks coming out of South Korea. These seem to work across the board and contain snail secretion. Sounds gross, but oh my gosh do they work wonders on your skin.
Embryolisse is the cult moisturizer. This moisturizer works for everyone. We can all use it. Lait-Crème Concentré is something that you can have in your kit which will work for any client.

The T3 trio wand is magical. It even curls my stubborn hair. I swear nothing else can get my hair to hold a curl for more than half an hour. I was curled all day long. Here are my before and after shots. This only took about 5 minutes to do my whole head and there is no product involved.
Cozzette has a new palette. Just look at the colors and let me tell you they are intense. We got a little demonstration from the rep. They blend fabulously together and you can easily turn them from matte to shine with just a little bit of layering.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The goody bags were fabulous. There are so many new products that I haven’t tried yet. I want to try them all from the Smashbox Primer Water, so you don’t look shiny all day, to the Ardelle lashes, to add volume where you need it. There are so many new styles to test out and all the product that comes tested and approved by professionals like James Vincent. All those goodies are some of his favorites and I can’t wait to work them all into my everyday look.
