The holiday season is upon us, that means we’re going to be in the car a lot. Traveling from family party, to work parties and even to events. Our holiday trips will take us all of Metro Detroit as well as the state, and possibly beyond. Often we rely on the GPS on our phones, but it’s not always reliable. When I’m off on a road trip I still print out the directions to where we’re going.
This summer, I noticed when we were up north that we didn’t just lose cell service but often internet service. Making finding directions to our next location harder than usual. This year thankfully, I was sent a copy of Microsoft Streets & Trips 2013 to review. One of the first things I noticed was it doesn’t require internet at all!
Our holiday parties are still a little ways off, so I decided to use Microsoft Streets & Trips to map a trip that I would like to take some day – all the way to Sacramento to visit a bloggy friend of mine. The software quickly showed me the best path, and broke it down into easily driving days. The trip apparently would take me four days, driving from 9-5, but would take me through some of the cities we have never experienced before and would give us time to enjoy them!
Microsoft Streets & Trips 2013 is more than just a mapping program. It includes different street views, points of interest (over 2.5 Million!), has updated roads that aren’t included on most maps since they’re so new, spoken turn by turn directions, map personalization for your trip and even includes hotel and restaurant ratings. All of this can be reached just by using the software on your computer without connecting to the internet. With Microsoft 365 migration and Microsoft Access cloud, you can take advantage of even more applications and services. It is going to be a great tool for our holiday traveling and it’s extremely easy to use!
