As a blogger, we do things out of order. We make Halloween decorations in August, start Christmas in October (or earlier). And while it can be confusing for the little ones, it  does allow them to enjoy the holidays a bit longer. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, hands down. Yes, I am the person who puts on the 24-hour Christmas music on November 1st- and happily belt out the songs in the kitchen, while driving and anywhere I hear them. Christmas music makes you happy and makes your heart sing. So, when I was asked to review “A Mary Christmas,” the new CD by Mary J Blige I jumped at the opportunity.I’ve been a fan of Mary J Blige for years, let’s just say her CDs were in my collection during my music formative years. A lot have since made it to my ipod and go on the road with me.
The weather is starting to get colder, actually we’ve seen snow in Michigan this week. I even experienced sleet yesterday while working on my car. So it’s not too early for Christmas music right? Honestly, it’s never too early!
“A Mary Christmas: is a beautiful collection of 12 Christmas songs. There are your classics like “Little Drummer Boy” and “My Favorite Things,” as well other favorites like “Mary Did You Know” and “When You Wish Upon a Star”. You will also find new favorites in the collection. All of the songs are soulfully sung by Mary J Blige. Some of the songs do feature accompaniment by Marc Anthony, Barbra Streisand, Chris Botti, The Clark Sisters and Jessie J.
Overall the collection is one that you will find yourself singing along with. Some songs are very traditional, and others you can feel more of Mary J Blige’s influence on the beat and tone of the song. It’s a wonderful collection that is beautifully put together. I personally enjoyed it and especially the songs done in French. while I don’t speak the language they are exquisite and well done and help put you in the holiday mood.

When I say the album is amazing, it is amazing…. I love the angelic jazz feeling Mary gave in some of the songs. My favorites are Little Drummer Boy, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, This Christmas, and even tho I do not speak French I loved…….. Petit Papa Noel, Omg she made me feel like I knew what she was saying on that song. The entire album is phenomenal. I would def. recommend people to go get it.
