With the latest Wes Anderson movie Asteroid City hitting theaters this weekend, fans of the director are no doubt watching the back catalog of his earlier films. Fans in Metro Detroit were in for a treat when earlier this week Focus Features hosted a special Wes Anderson trivia night and an exclusive screening of Rushmore.
The event was hosted at FRAMEbar in Hazel Park and offered not only movie-related prizes but themed drinks in a cute space. While the event was open to the public with free passes available earlier in the month, invites were sent to local outlets as well. The tent dressed in bright and quirky colors almost perfectly fit the Wes Anderson aesthetic with a bright and fun post-modern twist.
While Anderson fans weren’t able to get a sneak peek of the new film Asteroid City that hits theaters this weekend, they were treated to a private screening of Rushmore with treats and drinks themed similar to the movie.

Trivia and the special movie night were held at FRAMEbar’s pavilion outside, and set to theme with perfection. Opening in 2017, Frame offers “an ever-changing lineup of culturally rich dinners, guest collaborations, workshops, book events, wine tastings, and more.” Their inside dining experiences offer farm-to-table dishes that change seasonally with inspired drink options. While the event was free to the public, snacks, drinks, and other fare were available for purchase.
It truly was the perfect evening for fans of Wes Anderson’s work and anyone who is excited about the upcoming release of Asteroid City. It was a fun twist on a summer movie and while we may not know how often these events take place, we’ll be checking the FRAMEbar website for future events and local opportunities.
