Sometimes a fire starts burning down deep and you have to respond to it. A spark by something you don’t expect and you have to answer the call. That is exactly what I felt, and had to follow my call to participate in the Women’s March on Washington. The response to me attending has been a mixed bag, people completely encouraging and other people not understanding the need for the protests at all.
While you may not know me very well, and it’s only been the last year I’ve started sharing some more personal things on the site, I don’t think what separates us is that much. We may not agree on politics, we may not agree on hot button topics but I don’t think think that makes us enemies.
I’m sure that we can agree that people deserve equal rights, and equal pay. I’m sure we can agree that we all need access to fresh water, good food. I’m sure we can agree that all kids need a quality education.
If we can agree on one or all of these topics, the world would be a better place. But the reality is we can’t. You have your beliefs and I have mine. But some kindness, and some kind discussion of our differences, I’m sure we can get a bit closer and bridge the gap of what separates us.
We all have a long way to go, and the next few years we will have to work together. Join me in this trip to a better world through kindness.
“Here are the values I stand for: honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treat people th way you want to be treated and helping those in need. To me those are traditional values.”
~Ellen DeGeneres
Thank you for reading a story from #BehindTheBlogger Hop. Every 2 weeks a group of bloggers is given a writing prompt. These prompts are very open ended, so our bloggers can write about whatever they desire. The main rule is that their blog post directly relates to the topic of that week. The point of this hop is for our readers to get to know us on a personal level.
Please hop along and read all of the blog posts in this weeks hop. Just click the links below. If you want real and raw emotion, then you will find it here. After you read each post, please comment and share. We want to get to know you too!
