We were invited to check out Absolutely Fabulous the movie before it hit theaters. The best thing about the movie Absolutely Fabulous was that it was about fashion, PR and filmed in Britain and the South of France.
The plot of the movie is about a “has been” PR fashion professional who is struggling financially and is an outcast by the fashion elite. Edina Monsoon (played by Jennifer Saunders) is desperate to revitalize her career and reclaim her place in the world of PR and fashion. She has several escapades with her partner in crime Patsy Stone (played by Joanna Lumley.) And is often saved by her granddaughter Lula (played by Indeyarna Donaldson-Holmes.) Edina and her daughter Saffron fondly called “Saffy” (played by Julia Sawalha) have a strained relationship which is at the forefront of all of their interactions with each other. Edina accidently pushes Kate Moss (as herself) into the river at a soiree for the popular artist Huki Muki. And from that point the escapades continued…
The movie was predictable and at times challenging to sit through. However, the costumes were creative and fun to look at, some of the cinematography was beautiful particularly in the scenes located in the South of France.
As the plot continued the numerous failed attempts of humor left me anxiously anticipating the movie to end! On a high note, I think the actress Indeyarna Donaldson-Holmes, has a bright future ahead of her.
