invicta challenge review

invicta challenge reviewWe have all heard the quote “If we don’t learn from history we’re doomed to repeat it”, but that quote doesn’t take into account the good things we can learn from history. Even through some of the bad times, there are outstanding people that show us what we need to be strong leaders and help others. That’s exactly why the Invicta Challenge interactive game and graphic novel sets were created, to teach children and future generations the skills they need to be strong leaders and help others. We were sent the first Invicta Challenge to review – Flash & Thunder, based on an actual mission from D-Day!

invicta challenge reviewInvicta Challenge was created by military veterans to inspire children to read, learn about history and gain leadership skills. Invicta stands for the seven key leadership skills you need to complete the missions in the game – Integrity, Nobility, Valor, Initiative, Curiosity, Tenacity and Accountability.

Inside the Invicta Challenge box you’ll find a 108 page graphic novel about the missions, operations packet with 15 different cards, a tactical map, D-Day Operation invasion Map and a historically accurate collectible Paratrooper figurine with a removable helmet, removable pack and a M-1 Carbine. This allows your child to visualize the men who were in action while playing the game, as well as play along with the game.

invicta challenge reviewI was impressed with the set the minute I opened it, with the detail and sensitivity to history and the type of game play that was involved as well. Invicta Challenge actually takes into account that a lot of kids want to play their games online now, and even has an online and app component you can find at www.invictachallenge.com/play (the app is rolling out later this week). The online and app version allows you to take the missions to a different level and in real time see if you’d make it thru the mission or not.

The app will be free but there is an in app purchase for $4.99 if you want that a portion goes to the Turner Turnbull Scholarship with the Chahta Foundation, a nonprofit that works alongside the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The company will donate a portion of its in-app sales to this scholarship supporting a Choctaw Nation student in his or her 2nd year of college. The company will kick off the scholarship drive with a donation of $1,000 at a Dec. 3 event in Durant, OK with the Choctaw Nation.

Founder Jim Murphy -“The scholarship funding amount is based upon purchases of the Flash & Thunder app. The more people who download and experience the story of Turner Turnbull, Bob Niland, Ben Vandevoort, and the rest of the men who stormed Normandy and freed Europe, the more we will be able to donate to support the scholarship. Our goal is to raise at least $25,000, and we will update the community regularly on our progress. We have seeded the scholarship with a gift of $1,000 from Invicta Challenge and will build upon that with in-app purchases.”

Flash & Thunder is the first leadership challenge in the Invicta Challenge series. They will have more sets rolling out soon featuring Theodore Roosevelt, the Tuskegee Airmen, Harriet Tubman, and the Moon Landing. I’m sure as time goes on there will be even more added to the challenges and and great ways for your kids to learn from history. You can find the Invicta Challenge sets at your local Barnes and Noble stores.
