The first time I made chocolate art for cupcakes was when we did cupcake month for our recipe challenge. I didn’t have a piping bag yet, or know how to use it well, so I used a plastic baggie. It worked – but I didn’t have as much control as I do with a piping bag. So this time, I made sure I used a good tip and bag and got to making art!
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 double boiler (you can use a glass bowl over a pan as well)
- A piping bag with a small round tip or plastic zip top bag
- Wax Paper
Be careful not to burn your chocolate. If your chocolate starts to look chunky and frothy – it’s gone too far!
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper, and fill your piping bag with your melted chocolate and get ready to be an artist!
If you’re using a plastic bag fill with chocolate and clip the very corner off the bag. Use a steady hand and create your designs!
Put your cookie sheet in fridge or a cool area until your chocolate is set. Keep refrigerated until your ready to decorate your cupcakes!
The best part about making your own cupcake toppers? You can make whatever you want! We’re having our party tomorrow so most of mine were Disney themed of course, but I made sure to make a big 3 and 4 for my sister’s birthday cupcake!

Thank you what a great idea
