Growing up, Sun Tea was part of summer. My mother would always put a jug out in the back yard and we would end up with a huge thing of tea to enjoy. Making sun tea is one of the joys of summer, and you don’t need any cooking skills for this one – at all!
At my old house, I didn’t have a place to put a tea jug, but at our new place, we have a huge patio space. So when I saw tea jugs on sale, I grabbed one. But a word to the wise – make sure you check the spout connection – they somehow screwed up mine initially, and my first batch spilled all over the table and the patio! But a little elbow grease and patience I fixed the jug instead of returning it and in no time I was back to brewing!
Traditional Sun Tea only requires 3 things, water, sun and tea. But you can really add in anything at the beginning of the process. Since we tend to like sweetened teas in our house, I brewed ours with honey so it was naturally sweetened. The result? Honey Sun Tea!
