Have you ever wanted to try new and different things in the kitchen? Ingredients that you couldn’t usually find or afford are usually off the table – but what if they could just show up and you can try them out? That’s what Gourmet Spotting Boxes are full of – fun goodies to try in the kitchen. Gourmet Spotting sent me one of their monthly subscription boxes to try out, full of goodies I’m use to and a few I’m not!
Subscription boxes are all the rage right now, from shoes, to makeup, jewelry, nail polish and different food products. Each month for a set price you get a box of high quality products delivered directly to your door. Gourmet Spotting fits easily into this category, with a set monthly price of $29.99 and $7.95 shipping you get 4-6 full sized gourmet products sent to your home. With every box you order, a meal is also donated to charity – helping reduce hunger.
In my Gourmet Spotting box there were a couple items I was use to – even though not the brand I’m use to. I was sent a bag of Bountiful Pantry Risotto with Garden Vegetables, Greenpoint Trading Company Herbes de Provence, The Jam Stand – Razzy Gabby Jam with a side of Jalapeno, Pollen Ranch Spices – Fennel Pollen, and Rip Van Wafels dipping wafels. I’m a huge fan of risotto, and with the easy to follow instructions this will make a great side for an upcoming dinner. I’m also a huge fan of jam, and even more jalapeno – so I’m pretty sure this box might have been made just for me!
As for the spices – Herbes de Provence is a traditional French herb combination that I didn’t have on my shelves. I’m excited to try it out maybe on an oven roasted chicken or in another dish! Fennel Pollen – this is another beast for me in general. The tin does say to try it on roasted meat but I’ve never cooked with a pollen as an herb, but it has been toted as the “herb sweetheart” of the culinary world so I may have to bite my tongue and give it a try! It may become a new favorite all together.
The Rip Van Wafels were an added treat in the Gourmet Spotting box, small wafer type waffle cookies for dipping and eating. They are not gluten free so I had to share them with my boyfriend. However, they were a nice throw back to my time in Europe as a teenage and the wafels we had as snacks while we traveled.
I love the variety of the items in the Gourmet Spotting box I received – and for $30 a month + shipping they’re definitely a steal. These are great additions to our pantry and my spice collection. I also love that a meal is donated with each box, so that others can enjoy a warm meal as well. This is my type of subscription box – much more than beauty ones, or jewelry!
