How often do you eat fish? Dieticians say you should twice a week to help keep low blood pressure, support weight loss and enhance brain growth and development! Gorton’s Seafood wants everyone to try to eat more fish and to eat healthily, they’ve even come out with “Smarter Options” that are under 200 calories a serving!

Gorton's Grilled Fillets

Gorton’s challenged myself and other bloggers to try some of their Smarter Options and their recipes on their website. This is where I ran into a slight problem, with the fish I had purchased and searching for Gluten Free options I didn’t find many. I wasn’t interested in making fish sticks – that’s what we normally have. So instead, I came made a quick recipe, and dinner was done in under 20 minutes!

Meal Idea (serves 2):

2 Grilled Alaskan Pollock fillets – prepare as instructed on the box
1 cup long grain white rice – prepare as instructed
1 bag frozen broccoli

So far so good right? Simple easy enough! Now the only recipe you need for this one:

Lemon Butter Caper Sauce:

1 tbs Lemon Juice
1 tbs Butter
1/2 tbs capers
1 tsp chopped garlic
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions: Combine in a small sauce pan, heat until butter is melted, stir until combined. You could also put in a small microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds, stir until combined.

Make your plate:

Place your helpings of broccoli and rice on the plate. Place your fillet on top of the rice, drizzle the sauce over the fish and rice.  Dinner done in about 20 minutes!

Besides it being a super easy meal, it’s also pretty good. My boyfriend did comment that he wished I had selected a more “fishy” tasting fish he liked the meal overall. It was a treat because it’s something I would never make!

With the fillets being so easy to prepare and coming in many different varieties, your meal possibilities are endless! It would be very easy to add fish to your diet twice a week!
