Godzilla vs Kong Gives Movie Goers a Reason to Head to Theaters

When it comes to choosing a movie, monster movies usually aren’t the top pick for our house. But there is a certain appeal to them, the excitement and the battles of these giant creatures that spark your interest. So when Godzilla vs Kong was announced, it seemed like it was just going to be another one to add to the series of monster movies – but what we found instead was a surprisingly entertaining film with a great cast.

If monster movies are a hard sell for you, there are some great reasons to watch this one. Not only will you be entertained through the whole movie (it comes in at 1 hour 40 minutes), but you may find a renewed love for those big monster movies you grew up with. It takes advantage of technology and things that movies of the past didn’t have available – and helps build the mythology of these giant monsters.

Visuals

Godzilla vs. Kong, relies heavily on computer animation and modeling to create the world that these giant monsters live in. Unlike the original monster movies, it’s not just a guy climbing buildings in a costume and smashing hand built sets. Instead, photo-realistic parts of Hong Kong and Skull Island are created to be destroyed during the epic battle scenes. The world is created with master skill and you wont be able to tell where actual sets were and where the digital world begins.

Now we know, of course, that the monsters are digitally rendered and created. But the textures, hair and even the eyes look so lifelike it’ll make you question it just a little. For a movie that rely heavily on the digitally created elements for the bulk of it, Godzilla v. Kong does this exceptionally well.

In Theaters or at Home?

Godzilla vs. Kong is in theaters where there are open today, but is also available on HBO Max. So if you’re not ready to head into theaters yet, this is the perfect time to pop your own popcorn and watch the movie at home, over and over again if you want.

While it’s rare now days for us to suggest that a movie should be seen on the big screen, Godzilla vs. Kong is one of those rare movies that fits the bill. With the action scenes, the battles, and sound – Godzilla vs Kong will not only be amazing on a theater screen but with the use of Dolby or even the 4D theaters. You will feel like you are immersed in the experience and the battles more than in a lot of other movies.

With that being said, if you aren’t able to get to theaters yet, or don’t feel comfortable going just yet, the viewing experience on HBO Max is still fantastic. Just crank up the volume and dim the lights and you’ll enjoy this movie – even if monster movies aren’t usually your thing. Just be sure to apologize to your neighbors later if they ask about the monster battle that happened in your living room.
