When we think of Halloween, jelly beans aren’t the first thing to jump to mind. We were sent a bag of Gimbal’s Find Candies Gourmet Jelly Beans to try out. I’ll be honest and admit I had never heard of Gimbal’s before they reached out. I’m more acquainted with another jelly bean brand, but they have sparked a year long love of full flavored beans. Gimbal’s offers 41 different flavors of jelly beans all mixed in one variety bag. Since you never know what flavor you’re going to get or mix with another, it’s best to eat them one at a time.
While the gourmet jelly beans look pretty run of the mill, when I first opened the bag I immediately noticed a difference without tasting them – the smell! Once the bag was open, my kitchen smelled like a candy shop had exploded with sweetness. All of the Gimbal’s jelly beans are made with fruit juice and flavors, and when you bite into your first one you will notice a difference. The flavors inside vary between fruit, cinnamon, popcorn, coffee, honey and even chocolate. I made the decision to not read the flavor options until after I tried some out – and the variety shocked me. Each jelly bean is a bit softer than other brands and the flavor is pure all the way through to the center of the bean.
Gimbal’s Fine Candies do not contain high-fructose corn syrup and are certified Kosher Pareve. They are also free of the 8 major allergens. They are Peanut Free, Tree Nut Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Fish free and Egg Free. Jelly beans may not scream Halloween when you see them, but they are a crowd pleaser and a great candy to have on hand for guests with allergies, or ones looking for a candy alternative that doesn’t use artificial sugars or extra additives.
