Gluten Free Slow Cooker Meatballs with Stubbs Barbecue Sauce

Gluten Free Slow Cooker MeatballsNo party is complete without meat balls. You know it’s one of the staples when you go to any sports party, pot luck or graduation parties. The problem I’ve always had is they’re not gluten free – one of the main ingredients of course being bread crumbs. It’s easy to replace and to make gluten free but you have to find the right ingredients to  make some seriously good meatballs for your next party!

Stubbs bbq

A large part of making the right recipe is having the right ingredients. It goes beyond changing out the bread crumbs to a gluten free kind. Instead you have to make sure you are using the right sauces when you make your recipe. I was sent a selection of products from Stubbs BBQ to try out, and found that the barbecue sauce made perfect meatballs in this recipe! All of Stubbs products are gluten free, use natural ingredients and contain no high fructose corn syrup. But even beyond all of that it has a rich flavor that makes the meatballs perfect for any party.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef
  • 1 1/2 cups Gluten Free Bread Crumbs or Corn Flake Crumbs
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp Agave Nectar
  • 1 18 oz bottle of Stubbs Barbecue sauce
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

Directions

  1. In a large bowl add in your beef, gluten free bread crumbs, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and eggs.
  2. With your hands, combine and knead together the ingredients until everything is completely combined.
  3. In a medium skillet heat up your olive oil. Start rolling your meat balls to 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls. Brown them in batches on all sides and add them into your slow cooker. Repeat until all of your meat mixture has been rolled and used.
  4. Drizzle the agave nectar over top of your meat balls, then pour your Stubbs barbecue sauce over top.
  5. Turn on high and cook for 1 hour until fully cooked through (or 3 hours on low.)
  6. Enjoy!
