Gluten Free Crazy Bread Recipe

gluten free crazy bread recipeThere are times I get a craving for something that there isn’t available gluten free. And for me, one of the ultimate cravings hits often – it’s for Crazy Bread. Now, I wouldn’t expect Little Caesars to make a gluten free version, so I took that upon myself to do it. Our high school was a block from a Little Caesars and my friend and I went there almost every day for Crazy Bread for lunch. So it took a little time playing in the kitchen and I came up with a way to make some that are close enough in flavor to hit the spot when I’m looking for a Crazy Bread Fix!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm Water
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant Yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups Water, room temp
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 cups White Rice Flour
  • 1 cup Tapioca Starch
  • 1 cup Potato Starch
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • non-stick spray
  • 3 tbs melted Butter
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 3 tbsp Parmesan cheese

Directions: 

  1. In a small glass bowl add your arm water and yeast and stir together. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes until the yeast has proofed and it’s bubbly. Add in your room temperature water and oil and stir to combine.
  2. In your food processor add in all three of your flours and salt and pulse to combine. Add in your yeast mixture slowly down the tube of your food processor and process on low until it pulls together into a dough.
  3. Spray the inside of a medium bowl with non-stick spray and scrape your dough into the bowl. cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 2 hours.
  4. Break your dough into 4 equal balls, and roll 2 on a baking mat on a half cookie sheet until they are about 1/4 inch thick. Cut each dough spot into 8 pieces. Repeat with additional 2 dough balls. Bake at 375 for 18 minutes until the dough begins to brown and is done.
  5. While your bread sticks are still warm, brush on your melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and Parmesan cheese. You may need to cut your sticks again to get them to separate, but you should end up with 32 bread sticks!
  6. Serve with your favorite dip and enjoy!
