For the most of the country when you hear Coney Island you think of the entertainment area outside of Brooklyn filled with rides and sweets. But in Metro-Detroit a Coney Island is a completely different thing. We know the reference to the year round amusement parks of the past, but locally if you go to a Coney Island you’ll get a chili slathered hot dog.
Even with that in mind, when Brooklyn Bean Roastery sent me a box of their Coney Island Caramel coffee kcups to try out, it immediately brought to mind the thought of cotton candy and other sweet treats. What I didn’t expect when I popped the kcup in my brewer, I was met with the smell of hot caramel corn. It wasn’t just a hint of caramel that filled the kitchen, but the full smell of fresh caramel corn. How they fit those memories and that much flavor in the small kcups, I’ll never know.
The Coney Island Caramel Coffee didn’t just smell like a bit of nostalgia, but tasted like caramel corn as well. With a little sugar, it was the perfect way to begin the day and get a kick of caffeine as well. Made with 100%Â Arabica Coffee beans, and a bold flavor that will at least mentally send you to Coney Island, and will become one fo your morning favorite brews.
