Safety features in all cars have come a long way, and we’re not putting babies in a basket on the seat anymore. Car seat restrictions are only one thing to look into an each year care safety features are updated to make sure you and your family are safe. There are a ton of different safety features you should look for when you’re getting a new car, but these are our biggest ones we look for!
Air Bags –
Air bags go beyond just in the steering wheel, and you can actually find them in the dash of the passenger, in the seats, curtain ones that drop down to protect passengers from breaking glass or a direct strike. Air bags use sensors that can actually detect the impact speed and pressure of the impact. It will help protect your family during the worst crashes.
Back Up Cameras –
In the past few years back up cameras have become standard in most newer vehicles and there are plenty of after market ones available as well. Using a good backup camera can help you make sure you are backing up without any obstructions. They also can help you back into a smaller space that you’d expect with a larger vehicle.
Blind Spot Monitoring –
Every car has a blind spot, it’s just something that happens with the construction of the vehicle and how you’re sitting. But with Blind Spot Monitoring sensors around the base of the car will let you know if someone is your blind spot. You can turn off the sound if they annoy you, but the visual and audible cues from the alerts can help you from changing lanes into another vehicle.
Safety Belts and Harness Connectors –
Ok, this is an obvious and you’re required in every vehicle to have seat belts (with the rare exception of historic cars) by law. But making sure your vehicle has safety belts and the amount of car seat connectors is important. Seat belts are a bit annoying, but they can actually help save your life. When used correctly, wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of fatal injury to front seat passenger car occupants by 45%, and risk of moderate-to-critical injury by 50%.
