With the Pantone color of the year being Merlot, you would expect a lot of companies to jump on that color with their new product launches. And, the majority of companies went that way and added new hot colors like teal and a copper metal tone. Homer Laughlin China didn’t follow the masses this year, but they rarely do, which is probably why they’ve been around since 1871. Their Fiesta line has been a favorite since 1936, with their interchangeable sets allowing everyone to make their own color scheme and with highly functional features. So this year, they launched their new colors – Sage and Slate, that not only stand alone in beauty but still fit into their almost 80 year old line.
When we moved last year, my goal was to upgrade us to a more adult plate set. Our old set was missing a plate or two, had hair line cracks and more. So last fall when I did my first review of Fiesta products the door was opened and I began our Fiesta collection! After seeing the new colors and products Fiesta was launching this year they sent me two 5 piece sets of the new Sage color to add to our collection. The sage color isn’t as bright as some of our previous colors but fits into the color line beautifully.
Each five piece set comes with a dinner plate, a salad plate, a 12 oz coffee cup, a coffee cup plate and a salad bowl. Each piece is not only dishwasher safe, but also oven, freezer and microwave safe. I love that I can use my dishes to make a heaping plate of nachos in the oven and not worry about messing up another dish. They go beautifully from oven to table and not only saves from extra messy dishes, but saves you a bit of time as well.
Color is probably one of my favorite features of any of the Fiesta products, you can find any color to fit your lifestyle. If you love the more retro colors of the 60’s and 70’s the new Sage line will fit perfectly in your home. The new slate colors – they’ll fit with any color scheme! Since we let Fiesta into our home, it’s almost become an addiction. Not only did I find a great Black Friday deal and swapped out our old broken dishes for four complete sets, but I’ve added glasses and even Fiesta dish towels to our collection. And the Sage sets? They match and mix well with what we already had existing, but probably the best thing about the color? They match perfectly with the retro table cloth I found at an estate sale years ago.
Fiesta is currently taking pre-orders for their new colors, and they will start shipping on June 10th! Add these beautiful and nostalgic colors to your dinner table today!
