This time of year, pretty much every amusement park adds their own twinkle lights and a bit of flare to make their destination a bit more festive. But, no one seems to do it quite like Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. The amusement park has over 6.5 Million LED Christmas lights strung throughout every part of the park, has a lighted holiday parade in the evenings as well. While the amazing light display is what draws a lot of people to Silver Dollar City at the holiday times, there is a so much more going on during their holiday celebration. A visit to Silver Dollar City can help kick start your holiday spirit, get your fill of rides before the hard winter comes and help you get your shopping done – all in one place!
Live Shows Throughout the Day
When you visit a theme park, you may expect to see a character or two walking around. But very few have a list of free shows that last more than a few minutes. At Silver Dollar City, you can hop into any of the theaters or stages and enjoy an hour long production perfectly set for the holiday season. From an Ozark’s take on the classic of A Christmas Carol, to parades and more. This is included in your ticket cost, and will give you a completely different experience every time you visit the park.
Holiday shows currently playing at Silver Dollar City include: Hymn Sing Along, Wilderness Church Services, A Dickens’ Christmas Carol, Christmas on Main Street, Christmas on the Bayou, Frontier Fa-La-La Follies, Holiday Hearthside Harmondies, It’s a Wonderful Life, Joyful Voices, Rudolph’s Christmas Town, Rudloph’s Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade, Santa Claus Lane, The Living Nativity, Tinker Junior’s Toy Shop, Tracy Heaston, Biff Barker New Year’s Radio Show, Chad Chesmark, Dancy Party Featuring Members Only, The Cleverlys, and the Homestead Pickers.

Hop in and Take a Carriage Ride
We always love the idea of taking a horse drawn carriage ride around at the holiday season. There is just something beautiful and magical about the whole thing and something that harks back a more simple time. Christmas songs are full of sleigh rides and it’s not something we can do every day, or at least easily. Except of course, if you’re visiting Silver Dollar City during the holiday season. Not only can you take a romantic ride with your significant other, but take your kids on a ride through the lights they will never forget.
Looking to pick up a carriage ride while in the park? You can pick them up in the town square enjoy a ride around the park all included in your park pass or ticket price.
Listen to Carolers Through the Park
There is a idea put out there by Hollywood and the past that the holiday season includes carolers singing the songs of the season. I’m not sure about anyone else, but no one in my neighborhood comes to the door singing and dressed in Victorian garb. The thought of carolers is idyllic and something that I always associate with Christmas. It is, however, something I don’t usually get to experience. Set perfectly with the time frame that Silver Dollar City set their park in, their Christmas celebration includes groups of carolers that will stop and sing festive songs for you. Perfectly in tune, if you see a group of carolers in the park be sure you stop and enjoy a song or two.
Get Holiday Treats like a Cup of Wassail
No holiday season would be complete without some of the flavors we associate with Christmas. From baked goods at the bakery, handmade candies or even getting a glass of Wassail. This trip to Silver Dollar City was my first experience with Wassail, a hot, mulled punch often associated with Yuletide, drunk from a ‘wassailing bowl’. A mix of hot cider, holiday joy and a bit of spice – a cup of Wassail will warm you up. If you’re a fan of kettle corn, potato snacks and other treats that you usually get at Silver Dollar City – you can still get them. Just don’t forget to grab some holiday flavors while they’re around!
Love the Lights? Get Immersed in Them
Did we mention the lights? Silver Dollar City puts out 6.5 Million LED Christmas lights throughout their park. Stop inside any building and restaurant and see how the lights are on the walls and even on the trees the buildings are built around. The town square and smaller buildings faces are completely draped in lights and even some of the facades are extended with lights to make the spaces look bigger for the holiday season.
Enjoy the lights, the magic and take your time walking through a light display like you’ve never experienced before.

Hop On Your Favorite Rides
Yes, it’s the holiday season at the park. but that doesn’t mean you can’t hop on your favorite rides throughout the park. Keep in mind, some rides may not be open if it is too cold (for safety reasons). But you can hop on your favorite roller coasters, take the kids to their own rides and get in that screaming you needed to let out before the holiday season. Silver Dollar City will close after the New Year, so be sure to get your bit of adrenaline rush in so you don’t have have withdrawals before they re-open in the Spring!
